Who (am i)?

14/07/10

I am an emerging Scottish artist, based in south east London at Bainbridge Studios. I studied textiles and surface design at Grays School of Art, RGU and then went on to complete an MA in Constructed Textiles, specialising in mixed media at The Royal College of Art. During my earlier studies I had a period of living in Finland which transformed my ethos as a artist. I drew endless inspiration from the abundant nature, the simple approaches to life, the values, the light and architecture. I continue to reflect and research on these values and utilise them in the work I produce today.

Anthropologie

Following the launch of my work at Tent in September I have since been fulfilling orders for the wonderful retailers Anthropologie. My mirror tapestry caught their attention and they will now be stocking Mirror tapestries intermitantly both in the UK (from mid Spring) and across the pond. I have also been creating one off artworks for their latest store opening in New York next month.

The Conran Shop

Another success from Tent. The Conran shop will be stocking my Grain and Hairy boards from early March, look out for them in the Kitchen Department.

Screen Commission Current

I have been approached by a private client to design and craft a room divider for the dining area of her beautiful Hampshire home. I will keep the website updated as the project progresses.

The Pontis Group

If you are winging your way through Terminal 3 anytime soon (and happen to have time for coffee and cake) you may notice my Grain and Hairy boards in Caffe Italia. A series of the boards were commissioned recently to be used for displaying there tea time treats.

Place making: Makers and architects in collaboration

I have been invited by the Crafts Council to participate in a very exciting collaborative project. The Crafts Council and Kent Architecture Centre are inviting five makers and five built environment practitioners to participate in an exciting and challenging CPD opportunity. The project explores the shaping of places through collaborative working practices by sharing skills, material knowledge, approaches and ways of problem solving.
The project will take place in The Historic Dockyards, Chatham, Kent in mid March. News on that to follow.

The Outlet Gallery, Kendal

A selection of my smaller artworks and Grain and Hairy boards are being stocked in this new Gallery/Shop which stocks an array of emerging artists and designers innovative and exciting products and artworks.
